Nikkor 24mm f/1.4G

First off, I must say that if you have something in focus, even at infinity, it’s incredibly sharp... and I’m talking about using it at f/1.4 (there are other cheaper options if you don’t need that shallow depth of field, or that fast of a lens... or just plain don’t want to deplete your savings to get your greasy little fingers all over it)

I was quite impressed, as I should be for the hefty price, and though I’ve noticed it’s a little sluggish at focusing, especially in low light, it's extremely accurate. I would definitely have this in my bag as one of my first lenses if I had to buy everything from scratch.

Fast optics, sharp optics, amazing photos. Get really close, like any wide angle, to really make it shine.

  1. Pricey
  2. Sluggish AF
  3. No aperture ring for older film bodies.
