Hi. I'm Thomas. I've been absorbing everything I can about photography since 2009. My first aim for photography was to show others what I saw in my explorations. I wanted to capture the natural scenes around me that, just simply, were beyond the gamut of my simple little point and shoot.
When I was young, I was given my grandfather's old film Pentax K1000. Sadly, though I was constantly itching to learn about it, I neither shot nor developed film with it. I was confounded by the oddly unusual set of numbers that I now know to be aperture values. Years later, a friend, A.M., gave me a Canon film Rebel G with a broken flash. The feel of the Canon SLR was so different from the digital point and shoots that I was so accustomed to using. I shot several rolls of film, and decided that I should go digital. After much discussion with some friends, I settled on getting a used Nikon D200. It took me about a week of stumbling blindly around on the feared "M" mode to finally get the swing of things. I owe a great deal of my initial learning to C.B. who allowed me to borrow lenses to augment my Sigma 10-20mm. Ever since, I've been researching like mad, and trying to refine my skill.
Though I'm constantly driven to explore, one must never forget to enjoy that which they are experiencing, sometimes necessitating a lowering of the camera *gasp* to simply drink in the wonders around. Don't be blinded by your goal only to miss out on the present.
